OUR MISSION

We believe that a dynamic library is crucial to the education, well-being, and success of the community and each of its residents, young and old.

The Friends are a group, made up of volunteers. We endeavor to involve the community by stimulating interest in and use of the Henrietta Hankin Library. We do this by obtaining resources for the library. Money raised by the Friends directly supports the library. Our nonprofit status allows the Friends to apply for grants and receive corporate funding that the library may not otherwise be entitled to.

Join the Friends and give back to this vital community resource. Many of your friends and neighbors already have!

ADVOCACY FOR THE HANKIN BRANCH LIBRARY

Today’s public libraries are consistently being challenged to do more with less—less money, less staff, and less time. It has never been more important to convey to the community the value of the library.

Advocacy is the process of acting on behalf of the Hankin Branch Library to increase public & private funds that assure it has the resources needed to achieve success in addressing “The E’s” –

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Empowerment
  • Engagement

It is more important than ever as libraries continue to serve their communities amid rapidly changing circumstances.

The Hankin Branch Library serves at the forefront of digital equity by supporting broadband access, devices, and technical support. The Library further engages with each Township as a location for distributing community resources, materials, and information.

Advocacy is integral to achieving the Hankin Branch Library’s mission. Delivering a compelling story to the right decision-maker is essential.

Advocacy is a year-round commitment to building relationships with elected officials and decision-makers at every level of government and the community. Strengthening these connections helps promote an understanding of the economic, cultural, and community value of the Library at the local, state, and national levels.

“I have found the most valuable thing in my wallet is my library card."
