Today’s public libraries are consistently being challenged to do more with less—less money, less staff, and less time. It has never been more important to convey to the community the value of the library.

Advocacy is the process of acting on behalf of the Hankin Branch Library to increase public & private funds that assure it has the resources needed to achieve success in addressing “The E’s” –

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Empowerment
  • Engagement

It is more important than ever as libraries continue to serve their communities amid rapidly changing circumstances.

The Hankin Branch Library serves at the forefront of digital equity by supporting broadband access, devices, and technical support. The Library further engages with each Township as a location for distributing community resources, materials, and information.

Advocacy is integral to achieving the Hankin Branch Library’s mission. Delivering a compelling story to the right decision-maker is essential.

Advocacy is a year-round commitment to building relationships with elected officials and decision-makers at every level of government and the community. Strengthening these connections helps promote an understanding of the economic, cultural, and community value of the Library at the local, state, and national levels.

“Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life. Libraries change lives for the better."
-Sidney Sheldon
